| Local Volunteers Travel to Louisiana
A team of local volunteers traveled to St. Tammany West, Mandeville, Louisiana, in February to help build homes. They were a part of a group of skilled volunteers from across the country that participated. The local Habitat affiliate in St. Tammany was seeking additional skilled volunteers to help them. A total of 12 homes were worked on during the time period of February 22 – March 1, 2010. To learn more, click here to read the press release.
Jim Cooper Named State Habitat Volunteer of the Year
Battle Creek volunteer Jim Cooper was named Michigan's Habitat for Humanity "Volunteer of the Year" at the 2010 state banquet in Lansing on March 23, 2010. Matt Barstow, Director of the BCAHFH ReStore says, "Jim is invaluable. We could not even hire anyone that would show the persistence, perseverance and continuity that Jim displays day in and day out. He is the lynch pin for our ReStore." More than 450 Habitat supporters attended the event.

Jim Cooper Named State Habitat Volunteer of the Year
The Albion College Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter recently completed a month-long fundraiser called "Nickels for Nails" in March 2010. the Chapter decided to partner with the churches in the Albion community and to make it a month long event. Habitat paint buckets were placed in some churches, and others gave donations for the cause. At the end of the month they were collected.
